Justin Masrahi hopes self-fulfilling prophecy will help recoup previous investment losses…and save his marriage.
A prominent investor and self-proclaimed digital prophet has boldly predicted that Gen AI is going to be “an absolute gamechanger”.
Masrahi, a serial entrepreneur in emerging technologies and most notably a seed round investor in the LA-based GenAI start-up, Plagir.ai, used a recent appearance on his ‘Prompts Before People’ podcast to affirm his belief that GenAI will “do all creative things faster, cheaper, better, quicker and faster” than humans.
Unencumbered by specifics, ethics or accountability, Masrahi went on to assert that GenAI has “the power to redefine the world” and that “only a fool would fail to invest in the future of creativity”.
Masrahi’s predictions come in spite of a dismal track record when it comes to betting on technology, many of which are understood to have placed Masrahi and his family under severe financial pressure.
It was reported in 2022 that Masrahi had lost almost 90% of his inherited fortune after a number of failed investments in 3D printing, crypto currency, blockchain, web3 and the metaverse.
A source close to the family told The Daily Slop that his wife, Anika, had moved out of the family home in Bel Air with their three children when she discovered Masrahi had remortgaged the property in order to fund the purchase of an exclusive NFT (Non-Fungible Token).
Masrahi allegedly only came clean when the digital artwork plummeted in value after it was revealed on Reddit that the mysterious street artist behind the token was in fact a Romanian primary school student.
Despite his lack of experience in creative industries and fundamental disregard for the prosperity of those who built them, Masrahi remains bullish on the prospects of GenAI and his chances of seeing his children again – two things, he assured his listeners, that are in absolutely no way related.
